#An open appeal to the people of Puducherry:

An open appeal to the people of Puducherry:

In the recent lockdown period, I as the administrator of puducherry regret to bring to your notice that 236 cases were registered by the police dept under the excise act leading to suspension of 100 defaulting liquor licenses by the excise dept. Few Excise and police officials were also arrested, suspended, and transferred out. A senior Deputy Excise commisioner was replaced.

In view of the scale of the organised crime leading to heavy wrongful losses of revenue to the state exchequer in the form of excise duty payable to the state, the CBI has registered a case and taken up the investigation & examination of crimes and irregularities committed during this period.

During the same lockdown period, beginning with receipt of a written complaint from MLA Anbazhagan, we have been receiving enormous amount of information about this organised crime.

I urge you now to forward any information you may have concerning such acts of crime directly to the CBI which will help them in the investigation, as you may recall CBI opened up its unit branch in Puducherry last year. However, you can also message such information in confidence to the Chief Grievances office, LG office, Dr. Bascarane on whatsapp no. +91 95005 60001
